Rest for Your Soul

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

1. COME TO HIM. Jesus is the answer for every person – from the most sophisticated to the most down-and-out. If you are fatigued, Jesus is asking you to come to Him, learn from Him, and find rest.

You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11

2. LEARN FROM HIM. Jesus wants to be our teacher and show us how to rest. He wants to make known to us the path of life. We have been given gifts, purpose and equipping from God. Take some time to draw near to Jesus, to cease motion and activity, and get in His presence to be refreshed.

They [Adam & Eve] heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:8-9

3. LISTEN TO HIM. God’s voice thunders through history, calling to humanity. Come to Jesus: if you’re lost, He’ll save you; if you’re sick, He’ll heal you; if you’re empty, He’ll fill you with the Holy Spirit; if you’re aimless, He’ll give you vision and purpose; if you’ve failed, He’ll give you forgiveness. He loves you!

Draw near to Jesus,

DAILY CONFESSION:
I trust in the Lord, commit my way to the Lord, and rest in the Lord (Psalm 37:3, 5, 7). My soul follows close behind God, and His right hand upholds me (Psalm 63:8). God makes known to me the path of life. In His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11a).
