How to Get Godly Wisdom

Friday, November 20th, 2015

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

1. SEEK GOD. David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You give them into my hand?” Then the Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will give them into your hand” (1 Chronicles 14:10). King David modeled a life of seeking God. Sometimes we can become so numb that we don’t want talk to God, but this is a principle forged in faith. Don’t wait around for a feel-good moment of inspiration. Seek God right now.

2. SEEK GOD AGAIN. The Philistines made yet another raid in the valley. David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees” (1 Chronicles 14:13-14). Develop dependence on God. We are at our best when we put again in our situation. Again I’m at church, again I’m singing praises, again I’m giving in the offering, again I’m showing up, again I’m seeking God. Day by day, continually ask: “God, what would You have me do in this situation?”

3. OBEY WHAT GOD SAYS. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy (James 3:17-18). When we find out what God wants us to do, we don’t waste energy on busy activity instead of actual achievement. As you tap into God’s wisdom, you can have divine encounter after divine encounter.

God bless you,

DAILY WISDOM CONFESSIONS
I call to God and He will answer me and show me great and mighty things I do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). I trust in the Lord with all my heart, and don’t lean on my own understanding. In all my ways I acknowledge Him and He makes my path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). Jesus is my wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30) and I have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). I am filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9).
