Who Are You?

That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. Philemon 1:6 NKJV

When we acknowledge every good thing in us in Christ Jesus our effectiveness increases. As we acknowledge who God is, what He has done for us through Jesus, and who we are in Christ, we get out of lethargy and into action, out of dullness and into cutting edge. And we have God’s wisdom to understand the times and what we
are to do.

The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

Jesus came on the scene and brought light to darkness (Isaiah 9:2a). But instead of finding the light, many people have adjusted their eyes to the darkness of the fall.

Something awful has happened; something terrible. Something worse, even, than the fall of man. For in that greatest of all tragedies, we merely lost Paradise – and with it, everything that made life worth living. What has happened since is unthinkable: we’ve gotten used to it. –John Eldredge, “The Journey of Desire”

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

I don’t ever want to adjust my eyes to darkness and live below the amazing standard Jesus provided for us when He died on the Cross and rose again. New things have come! We now have wisdom. We now can know the mind of Christ to help us deal with issues. We are now new creatures and we have God’s righteousness—we are whole and clean.

Jesus cleansed us so thoroughly that we are actually containers of the Holy Spirit! Sure you have scars and some grooves that have been worn into your life from hurt. Sure you’re locked up in some of your thinking. That’s why you need to be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Ephesians 4:23) by studying and meditating on God’s Word. Get up in the morning, get hold of the Scriptures, and look in the mirror of God’s Word. Remind yourself of what the Bible says about who you are in Christ. As you do, light will come and dissipate the darkness!
