For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a
1. RESTORATION. A life with God is the most wonderful life. God sent Jesus to redeem sinners and to restore that close connection between God and humanity. When we humble ourselves and commit to following Jesus, He sets us free, gives us a new nature, and shows us His purpose for our lives. It’s really amazing, isn’t it!?
2. PURPOSE. We need to differentiate good ideas from God ideas. Ask yourself, “What are the specific things God has called me to do?” We’re not clones and we shouldn’t compare ourselves and our calling to others (2 Corinthians 10:12). Instead, God wants the proper working of each individual part throughout the Church (Ephesians 4:16). You don’t have to worry about where you fit in – just entrust your heart to God and He will use you. You have gifts. Discover them and implement them.
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10
3. ACTION. God loves it when we are really doers of the Word (James 1:22). This isn’t meant to make you feel desperate but to inspire you to live deliberately. “Doing” pushes us away from settling for intentions, and it gets us into divine action. Faith without corresponding action is flat and hollow. Practical application of what God’s Word teaches is really rewarding.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
4. FOLLOW THROUGH. I like to bottom-line the purpose of life by asking: What pleases God? Micah’s prophecy to Israel in the Old Testament reveals what God wants from us. When we commit to living a life of service, walking in love, and keeping it all about Jesus, we’ll see great fruit produced.
God is so faithful!
